Open yourself to good Karma:

The Sanskrit word Karma is mostly thought of in the Western world as relating to deeds performed in a past life and the consequences of those actions in the present life. This is only a secondary aspect of Karma. Karma is derived from a Sanskrit root word meaning, to do, or to make. It refers to your actions or deeds, not necessarily the results. Karma Yoga, for example, is centered on doing good deeds, or performing your duties in life with a positive attitude, or being of service to others.

As Yoga is not just a physical workout, but a spiritual practice as well, karma should be a part of your practice. It doesn’t mean you have to spend a great deal of time, money, or energy helping others. But throughout your day, be mindful of your actions, words, etc., and how they affect others, and when the opportunity arises to be of service, even if it’s opening a door for someone, take it. You’ll be amazed at how good that actually makes you feel.

On April 10, 2011, from 2pm to 3.30pm, I will be teaching a free yoga class at Affirmations Yoga Studio. The studio will be accepting donations to help Summer, a yoga teacher fighting stage 3 cervical cancer. If you would like to join us, please go to my Events page to learn more and see how you can pre-register. Here is a wonderful opportunity to open your heart and be of service to someone in need. I hope to see you there.

Namaste
